RETNA's gold calligraphic mural at Craig's West Hollywood

Craig's West Hollywood (2025)

Craig Susman hit me up about doing something at his spot on Sunset. Craig's is one of those places where everybody in LA ends up at some point — actors, musicians, the homies, whoever. It's a neighborhood joint that turned into an institution. He wanted my script on the wall, full facade. I set up the ladder and started painting. Black on white, my alphabet running across the whole front of the building. The symbols catch the late afternoon light — that golden hour in LA that hits different than anywhere else. People walk by and stop. Some try to read it, some just let it wash over them. It's West Hollywood, man. This is my city. I've been painting LA walls for decades and this one felt like coming home. Craig's is where people come to see and be seen, and now they walk in through my letters. That's the connection I'm always chasing — the script becomes part of the place, part of the moment. You don't need to know what it says to know it belongs there.
